ANIMATION

MY STYLE

Over the last year, I’ve developed a distinct animation style inspired by paper cut-out animation. I combine illustration with tactile textures like construction paper and wood to give an analog feel to the graphics, but it’s all done in Adobe After Effects.

I first began working in this style while animating for my work-in-progress multimedia documentary, Backordered. The documentary draws from my personal experience dealing with a nationwide ADHD medication shortage, and uses animation as reenactments. After making the first animation for this film, I started working on several more that will appear in the final film!

I continued using this scrapbook-inspired aesthetic in my graphics work for Reviving the Forgotten River, a half-hour environmental documentary that will air on Maryland Public Television in April 2024. In addition to my work as post-production producer, editor, writer, and other jobs on the project, I brought my signature animation style to the film with three explanatory animations that break down important concepts.
